GIRLS of the South Okanagan

Our South Okanagan chapter launches in September 2022!
Most events will take place in Summerland, sometimes Penticton. If you live close by, we want you to come and hang out with us!

Spearheaded by GIRLS CLUB Chapter Leader, Angela, the South Okanagan chapter of GIRLS CLUB embraces all that GIRLS CLUB holds dear: friendship, fun, frivolity... inclusiveness, connection and community.

Meet Angela!

When Angela’s daughter, Gabby, was diagnosed with Autism in December 2021, the first question out of her mouth (after “what is Autism?”) was, "When can I meet other girls like me?"  It was something Angela couldn’t answer right away, but it the most important question she wanted to address… Here’s their story:

While making all the calls, attending endless appointments, and joining a supportive Zoom group, we looked for ways to connect her with other girls.  We were so excited when we were told about the Okanagan GIRLS CLUB Chapter in Vernon, and we immediately emailed to RSVP for the next available session. Gabby and I loaded up with drinks and snacks and drove the hour and a half to get there.

It was such an inclusive and welcoming place; we knew we had found something special.  We were only 5 minutes into the car ride home when she asked me if a) were we there yet? and b) Is there anything like this closer to home?

When I told her there wasn't, but I didn't mind the drive, she asked me - 'Can we start one in Summerland?'  The rest is history.  Now, we are pumped to get started and to meet you!

Angela is a freelance marketing communications professional and writer.  When she isn’t working or spending time with her family, she can be found at her desk planning the next GIRLS CLUB meetup or writing her next novel.
