Meet Kathy!

Kathy had been looking for a place where her daughter could make friends with girls she could relate to — just by being her amazing neurodivergent self, and without having to play or act in a certain way in order to fit in and be accepted.

When Kathy came across the GIRLS CLUB website one night, she just knew GIRLS CLUB was it. When she reached out to Vicky and found out there wasn’t yet a chapter on Vancouver Island, she knew she had to make it happen.

“Our journey began when my daughter, Amelia, was an 18-week old sweet potato in my belly, as the app said. We found out that her little brain wasn’t looking quite as expected, but what exactly that meant for our girl’s future, the doctors couldn’t tell us. Amelia is now 7 and is neurodivergent and medically complex. She is also the most sweet, funny, and affectionate girl that just wants to give everyone a hug! I see how naturally Amelia’s younger sister makes connections with her peers. Amelia deserves that too; all of our girls deserve that! It will be my privilege to see those special connections being made through GIRLS CLUB.”

Kathy lives on the Saanich Peninsula with her husband and two daughters. She’s a marketing professional by day, mom/wife by day/night, and she’s very excited to spend some of her extra time dreaming up fun events for GIRLS CLUB!
